  • MIN Starting Pitcher #49

López carried a shutout into the seventh inning before the Guardians finally broke through when he launched an ill-advised throw down the first-base line on Carlos Santana’s infield single, which allowed José Ramírez to scamper home on the play. He was charged with an additional run when Brock Stewart coughed up a three-run homer following his departure. He struck out six and didn’t hand out a free pass, but was still saddled with a loss in this one. He’ll bring a sparkling 2.25 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 26/4 K/BB ratio across 28 innings (five starts) into a home matchup on Tuesday against the Orioles.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #48
At least as far as Statcast is concerned, this might have been the single unluckiest outing by a pitcher this season. The hits off Detmers left bats at 84, 46 (a bunt single), 68, 108 and 66 mph. Julio Rodríguez delivered the one shot in there with a .760 xBA. The other four came in at .240, .260, .180 and .040. This actually might be a good thing for Detmers; the better he fares as a reliever, the more likely it is that the Angels will lock him into that role for the long haul. This took his ERA from 2.57 to 5.79.
  • SEA Shortstop #76
Rivas figures to be a lineup fixture in Seattle for the near future. He’s yet to pick up an extra-base hit, but he’s 11-for-30 with nine walks, giving him a .513 OBP. He’s also 3-for-3 stealing bases.
  • SD Catcher #17
Díaz made a second straight start today for the first time since Apr. 5-7. While probably not truly a quality starting catcher, Diaz has to be a better option than Martín Maldonado, who continues to handle Dylan Cease and Randy Vásquez when they pitch. Díaz is catching Michael King and Nick Pivetta, both of whom are off to outstanding starts. Díaz also has a .652 to .506 OPS advantage on Maldonado.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #34
Par for the course for King so far this year. The one oddity for him in starting off 4-1 with a 2.09 ERA is that he’s never pitched six, seven or eight innings; his lone “quality start” was his complete-game shutout of the Rockies on Apr. 13. King’s next start will be his first against the Yankees since his inclusion in the Juan Soto deal.
  • SD Relief Pitcher #75
Just like last night, the Padres ran through Jeremiah Estrada, Adrian Morejon, Jason Adam and Suarez to hold on to a lead today. In the team’s last three games, those four have all made three appearances and no other reliever has faced a single batter, a strategy made easier by the off-day Monday and another one tomorrow. Suarez is now 12-for-12 in save chances.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #65
Roupp would certainly seem to have the stuff to be a quality starter, but this is the third time this season that he’s failed to complete five innings, and he currently has a 5.10 ERA. It’s the .383 BABIP that’s killing him, but there’s nothing much backing it up; his exit velocity numbers are all considerably better than average. There’s definitely a chance he’ll prove useful in mixed leagues as the goes on. He’s due to face the Cubs next time out.
  • SF 1st Baseman #41
The Flores renaissance seems to have come to a conclusion. He’s 0-for-15 in his last four games, and he’s hitting .190 with one homer in his last 17 games. In spite of that, though, he’s still tied for third in the majors with his 28 RBI. We wouldn’t expect him to offer mixed-league value the rest of the way.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #31
Glasnow hit the injured list earlier this week with right shoulder inflammation. The Dodgers are going to give him at least a couple weeks to rest before he’s potentially cleared to resume a throwing program. It seems highly unlikely he’ll make it back to Los Angeles’ rotation until sometime in June since he’ll need at least a couple minor league rehab starts to build up his stamina and pitch count again. He remains without an official return timetable for the moment.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #53
The Brewers haven’t publicly released an exact date for Woodruff’s return to the big leagues, but it sounds like there’s a chance it’s coming shortly after his next rehab start in the upper minors. The 32-year-old former fantasy ace fired 5 2/3 scoreless frames on Wednesday in his latest tune-up for High-A Wisconsin.
