Dan Edgar has left fans shocked over a confession he made about his relationship with Ella Rae Wise just a week after she was evicted from Celebrity Big Brother. In the latest episode of The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE), the reality star confused his co-stars admitting a crucial detail.

Ella, 24, was seen in tears inside the famous Big Brother house as she opened up on the split. However, Dan, 34, spoke to his co-stars on the show in the latest episode of TOWIE, which has not yet aired details of the couple’s split.

In the episode, Dan is seen talking to Diags and Roman Hackett about Ella. During the conversation, Dan claimed he never formally asked Ella to be his girlfriend, with the duo only becoming an item due to their constant time together.

A confused Roman asked Dan on the show: "Are you going to ask [Ella] to be your girlfriend?" Dan replied: "It wasn't that I was never gonna ask her, it just got to a stage where I felt we were both happy and just going with the flow of it." Diags butted in to say Ella definitely would have liked to have been formally asked and told him to: "Pull your finger out of your a*** and ask her."

Dan claimed he had told her they were together, without actually asking her. "I just said to her 'we are in a relationship," he told his pals before Diags sarcastically told him the gesture was "so romantic".

Before Celebrity Big Brother got under way, Ella revealed the couple had gone their separate ways. She said at the time the duo had struggled on agreeing on their futures.

After entering the house, she opened up to fellow contestants, Angelica Bell and Jojo Siwa about their relationship. She told her co-stars: "It's just one of them things. I just feel like an idiot because everyone... I just knew he weren't gonna be what I wanted him to be. And I thought maybe he might for me but he's just...And I don't want to waste years trying to change someone. Do you know what I mean?"

After the scenes aired, Dan took to social media to tell his followers: "The past week has seen a strange turn of events and things have been said that I didn’t really want to comment on, but to put it straight, Ella and I agreed to go our separate ways amicably last week, and were speaking right up until she left to go into the house.

"I think we both have our reasons for why it wasn’t working out, but there are certain things in life I would rather keep private. I wish her all the best and hope she enjoys her experience."
