Breeding, Marshall. Executive Changes at The Library Corporation. July 2016. Smart Libraries Newsletter. The Library Corporation has recently made changes in its executive team. Company co-founder Annette Harwood Murphy continues as President and Chief Executive Officer. Given the company's founding in 1974, Murphy ranks as the longest serving executive in the library automation industry. The company has made several promotions from within its ranks to fill other top executive positions.

The Library Corporation announced that it is developing a new integrated library system called LS2. This product will ultimately become TLC’s strategic automation product, though it will continue to develop and support both of its existing ILS products indefinitely. The initial module of the system, the LS2 PAC, has been completed and has been implemented by the Shenandoah County Library System in Virginia.

Medialab Solutions, B.V, an Amsterdam-based software development company, has developed a search environment called AquaBrowser that takes quite a different approach. As with a standard catalog, a search session begins by typing search terms. In addition to the list of results returned by a conventional online catalog search, AquaBrowser Library presents an interface designed to help the searcher pinpoint material that matches their investigation topic.

Breeding, Marshall. The Library Corporation acquires CARL Corporation. September 2000. Information Today. The consolidation of the library automation marketplace continues with the acquisition of CARL Corp. by The Library Corporation (TLC). In this development, TLC expands its presence from small and medium-sized libraries to the very largest libraries and library consortia. CARL Corp. will be wholly owned by TLC, though its name will continue to be used in the combined company. The marketing, sales, support, and development of CARL's products and services will continue largely unchanged from its Denver facilities.

June 15, 2021. Leander Public Library and TLC’s Library.Solution: Reunited And It Feels So Good. The Library Corporation continues its busy 2021 schedule with the reimplementation of Library.Solution for Leander Public Library in Leander, Texas. Currently a customer of TLC's AMH and RFID company Tech Logic, LPL will be rejoining the full TLC family again. This will be Leander's first use of Library.Solution since 2011.

June 14, 2021. Medaille College Returns to the TLC Family. Students are not the only ones returning home this summer, as Medaille College returns to The Library Corporation for the first time since 2008. Medaille College recently implemented Library.Solution, TLC's 100 percent web-based Library Management System.

June 4, 2021. The Library Corporation Implements First Library•Solution Version 5.x in the Philippines. Earlier this month, Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) upgraded their Library.Solution library management software to version 5.6.3, part of the next-generation 5.x series. ADDU is the first library in the Philippines using Library.Solution Version 5.x as their Library Management System.

May 10, 2021. Frederick County Public Libraries choose CARL. The Library Corporation announced that Frederick County Public Libraries in Frederick County, Maryland, have chosen the CARL product suite as their next generation Library Management Platform.

April 29, 2021. Westminster Public Library Extends Community Outreach with NovelBranch from TLC•SmartTECH. The Library Corporation announced the successful implementation of TLC.SmartTECH's NovelBranch mini library kiosk in collaboration with the Westminster Public Library in Westminster, CO, at two local recreation centers. The library has been delighted to extend community outreach with the NovelBranch units, providing circulating library materials through an easy-to-use, self-service kiosk.

April 21, 2021. Lodi Public Library joined The Library Corporation’s (TLC) family of customers. Lodi Public Library recently implemented Library.Solution and joined The Library Corporation and its family of customers.

March 8, 2021. Latest CARL features promote library-centric workflows. The Library Corporation (TLC) develops software with an understanding of library workflows and the needs of TLC customers in mind. With the latest product release of the CARL integrated library system, TLC continues to provide features that improve operational efficiency, which can be found in CARL.X version 9.6.8, CARL.Connect Staff version 1.6.4, CARL.Connect Discovery version 3.6.2.1 and CARL.X APIs version 1.9.8.

January 19, 2021. TLC wins dual Modern Library Award honors. The Library Corporation has added to its impressive list of accomplishments yet again, earning multiple 2021 Modern Library Awards. TLC not only received a Gold Level Award for CARL.Connect Discovery but also the highly distinguished “Service of the Year” Award for TLC.Cloud Services. The MLAs were created to recognize the top products and services in the library industry in a truly unbiased format. Only customers with experience using these products/services in their facilities were permitted to judge the products/services, resulting in a truly unbiased score.

January 11, 2021. TLCs Family of Customers is growing in Indiana. The Library Corporation'continues to expand its family of customers in Indiana with the recent Library.Solution implementation at Plymouth Public Library.

December 18, 2020. Bremen Public Library joins the TLC family. The Library Corporation announced that, in spite of the hurdles and challenges COVID-19 continues to present to the library industry in 2020, TLC's family of customers continues to grow and thrive. The most recent library to join the TLC family is Bremen Public Library.

The Library Corporation acquired majority stock shares of Tech Logic Corporation of White Bear Lake, MN. In doing so, TLC immediately assumes responsibility for the management of Tech Logic. Tech Logic founders Mark and Linda Frich remain stockholders while continuing their active participation in the operations of the company.

The Library Corporation acquired The CARL Corporation, a leading developer of automation solutions for all types of libraries. CARL is the creator of the CARL System, which is used in over 1,000 libraries of different types at 37 sites.

Mar 2000 ingenta acquires UnCover Company from Ward Shaw
ingenta, a global research gateway, has announced that it has merged with UnCover, an article access and document delivery provider to the U.S. academic market. Under the terms of the agreement, ingenta has purchased 100 percent of UnCover's issued stock, and Ward Shaw, chairman of UnCover, will join ingenta's board.

In a year defined by uncertainty and concern, The Library Corporation (TLC) served as a beacon of stability and consistency for its customers. Moving with decisiveness in prioritizing the well-being of customers and staff alike, TLC acted early in the pandemic to ensure its customers would continue to benefit from the outstanding and unexpected level of service they’ve come to expect from TLC in its 47-year history. When other vendors contracted, TLC grew. When others curtailed services, TLC worked non-stop to ensure customers were able to maintain services to their borrowers. When others looked to weather the storm, TLC innovated.

In 2020, customers saw the deployment of TLC•Cloud Services, the next generation of hosted solutions in the library industry and winner of the 2021 Modern Library Award for Service of the Year. Utilizing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), TLC•Cloud Services provides customers with unmatched control, security, and predictability to deliver high-performance, Cloud-based infrastructure services. OCI is a deep and broad platform of cloud services that enables TLC to design and build its applications in a scalable, secure, highly available, fault-tolerant, and high-performance environment. TLC•Cloud Services provides customers with data-at-rest encryption capability, complementing existing physical data center and application-security capabilities. These security defenses include ample encryption, strong access management, and granular resource and network control. TLC•Cloud Services also brings both Library•Solution®, Library•Solution® for Schools, and CARL•X™ into the same hosting environment, streamlining resources between the library management software platforms.

The pandemic did not prevent libraries from providing their communities with the best solutions they could offer and, for many libraries, that included upgrading their classic client-based Library•Solution® to TLC’s web-based LS2 Library Management Solution. Forty-nine library systems made the leap to a 100% web-based platform built with a flexibility and ease-of-use that many libraries appreciated during a time of constant change and rule modifications. In addition to these libraries upgrading and implementing LS2, numerous other libraries, including Newport News Public Library in Newport News, VA, Sea Girt Public Library in Sea Girt, NJ, Medaille College in Buffalo, NY, and University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville, AR chose to join the TLC family of customers. CARL•X™ also saw continued growth and poential migration opportunities expected to continue in the new year, with notable relationship renewals such as Somerset County Library in Somerset, NJ in 2020.

COVID-19 did not slow down development of Library•Solution® and Library•Solution® for Schools, with the release of version 5.6, which included the additional integration of Syndetics Unbound. TLC was the first library management software company to bring enhanced content to the marketplace; the added integration of Syndetics Unbound builds upon that legacy, providing Syndetics Unbound data in the PAC and now in LS2 Cataloging as well, allowing libraries to directly report content issues to Proquest. Version 5.6 also brought RFID Inventory into Library•Solution® and Library•Solution® for Schools. This exciting feature was developed in conjunction with TLC’s subsidiary, Tech Logic, to leverage the power of RFID shelf management technology.. Numerous other features were included in 5.6 as well.

The CARL•X™ platform, which includes the web-based CARL•Connect modules, saw two major releases this year. CARL•X™ made significant foundational changes, modifications to data structures and added enhanced configurability. CARL•Connect Discovery closed the gap between the desktop and mobile versions and focused on numerous technical improvements, as well as continued development of FRBR-based functionality. CARL•Connect Staff saw numerous enhancements for handling fines and fees in a patron’s account. Fill List saw many improvements, including features focused on handling damaged items.
