Graduate Certificate in Restorative Practices

If you want to earn a graduate-level credential in restorative practices, the IIRP offers an 18-credit Graduate Certificate in Restorative Practices. You may later choose to pursue a master's degree utilizing all or most of those credits.

The 18 credits include:

  • 12 Core Curriculum credits and
  • 6 additional 500- or 600-level credits, approved in consultation with an advisor

You can register for up to 12 credits before applying for admission to the Graduate Certificate program and begin the program at various times throughout the year. (This does not apply to international students.)

In achieving the certificate program goals, you will:

  • Gain extensive knowledge and skill in restorative processes.
  • Analyze and evaluate restorative practices history, philosophy, theory and research.
  • Learn tools necessary for self-evaluation and professional growth.

FN 500 or FN 501 is a prerequisite for all courses.

Alternative Formats for Core Curriculum Courses

Basic Restorative Practices is the beginning course for IIRP graduate studies and is offered in two different 3-credit configurations:

  • FN 501(1 credit) and FN 505 (2-credits) course are each offered as 2-day courses, usually on weekends. FN 505 requires completion of 12 hours of online work. Together they are the equivalent of FN 500.
  • FN 500 is 4-day course with 12 hours of related online coursework.
