The republican "Zhas Ulan" school named after Army General S. Nurmagambetov was established in accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan as of March 27, 1999 No. 309 and was named after the Hero of the Soviet Union, People's Hero, the first Minister of Defense of sovereign Kazakhstan, Army General Sagadat Nurmagambetov. By the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 43 as of 9 February 2021 it was renamed to the Military College named after Hero of the Soviet Union, People's Hero, Army General Sagadat Nurmagambetov (hereinafter – Sagadat Nurmagambetov Military College).

The S.Nurmagambetov Military College is a military educational institution that trains junior commanders under the technical and vocational education programs with a training period of 2 years and 10 months based on basic secondary education in the following fields of study and qualifications:

How to enroll to the Military College?

Citizens who have reached the age of fifteen in the year of admission, but not older than seventeen, have the right to enter the S. Nurmagambetov Military College.

Admission is on a competitive basis in accordance with the rules of admission to military training institutions approved by the authorized authority.

Applicants submit a set of documents to the Military College Admissions Committee in accordance with the Appendix to the Rules of Admission to Military Training Institutions.

The applicants who have not submitted a complete set of documents to the Admissions Committee are not eligible for admission.

Applicants to S.Nurmagambetov Military College come to the Academy with their parents (legal representatives) and apply for admission in the period from August 1st to August 5th inclusive of the year of admission.

An applicant who does not meet the following requirements will be denied admission to the S. Nurmagambetov Military College:

1) recognized by court as legally incompetent or with limited legal capacity;

2) suffering from an illness which makes it impossible to perform military service, as determined by the military medical commission.

Citizens are admitted to the Military College in the following stages:

1st stage: professional and psychological selection;

2nd stage: final medical examination in accordance with the Rules of military medical examination;

3rd stage: physical fitness check;

4th stage: competitive selection and enrollment.

Each stage of the competition may be taken only once. An applicant who has not passed the previous stage will not be allowed to proceed to the next stage.

The aptitude screening of applicants includes the verification of motivation level, stress resistance, critical and logical thinking. The screening is carried out by the Admissions Committee in conjunction with the Educational and Ideological Work Department of the Military College in coordination with a structural unit. The applicants who were not recommended based on the results of aptitude screening are considered not to pass the stage.

The final medical examination of applicants, which includes verification of fitness to study at military colleges on health grounds, is conducted by a medical commission established in accordance with the Rules of Military Medical Examination.

Physical fitness assessment of applicants includes acceptance of physical training standards as set out in Appendix 2-1 of the Admission Rules.

Applicants who have obtained less than 60 points in total for all exercises and who have not obtained the minimum number of points in two disciplines will be deemed to have failed the stage.

The competitive selection is carried out by the admissions committees on August 20 of the enrollment year and includes the draw-up of a rating of points received from the maximum to the minimum. The rating is indicated in the minutes of the Admissions Committees of the Military College in accordance with the established form.

The applicants ranking from the first number to the number corresponding to the number of the allocated places based on the enrollment plan are admitted to the Military College.

The decisions of admissions committees are announced before 10.00 AM on August 21 of the year of admission, posted on the website and approved on August 23 by the order of the Head of Military College. Appeals are accepted until 11.00 AM on August 22.

In the case of similar indicators in the competitive selection process for admission to Military College, the following persons have a right of priority:

  • orphans and children left without parents;
  • graduates of educational institutions with additional military training programs;
  • children of military personnel who were killed in action, went missing during their military service or were disabled during their military service;
  • individuals awarded the "Altyn Belgi" badge;
  • winners of international Olympiads and competitions of scientific projects (scientific competitions) in general education subjects, republican and international competitions of performers and sports competitions of the last three years, awarded with diplomas of the first and third degrees, the list of which is determined by an authorized body in the field of education, winners of presidential, republican Olympiads and competitions of scientific projects in general education subjects of the current year, awarded with diplomas of the first and third degrees, provided that their chosen specialty corresponds to the subject of the Olympiad or competition.

A student at the S. Nurmagambetov Military College, upon transfer to the third year of study, concludes a contract on military service with the Head of the S. Nurmagambetov Military College.

An applicant enrolled in the S. Nurmagambetov Military College arrives for training before August 29 of the admission year.

The list of documents required for admission to military colleges and military educational institutions implementing higher education programmes:

1. An application for enrollment in no particular format or military report indicating surname, name and patronymic (if any), date of birth, residence address, contact details of parents or legal representatives.

2. A copy of an identity card (original version for verification). Before reaching the age of sixteen, a copy of the birth certificate (original version for verification) needs to be provided.

3. A certificate of basic secondary education (original version and copy).

4. A medical examination card of a citizen (075-U form).

Medical documents and medical research results according to the Rules of military medical examination:

1) health information from a medical organization:

  • a tuberculosis dispensary certificate (from the place of residence);
  • a neuropsychiatric dispensary certificate (from the place of residence);
  • a dermatovenerologic dispensary certificate (from the place of residence);
  • a narcological dispensary certificate (from the place of residence);
  • a drug test results.

2) information on the medical records of chronic, infectious and parasitic diseases suffered in the past 12 months;

3) documentation in the form of accounting and reporting documents: outpatient medical card, preventive vaccination card;

4) other medical documents characterizing the state of health of the citizen, x-rays (x-ray of the sinuses, x-ray of the feet in the case of flat feet), protocols of special research methods;

5) medical test results obtained no earlier than thirty calendar days prior to the medical examination:

- complete blood count;

- syphilis microprecipitation (microreaction) reactions;

- common urine analysis;

- x-ray of the sinuses;

- 12-lead ECG at rest (after exercise – according to indications);

- fluorographic (X-ray) examination of the chest organs in 2 projections (no later than three months prior to the day of medical examination);

- blood test for brucellosis (for those working in animal farming and (or) having livestock in their household);

- echocardiography.

5. 4 photos (3x4 cm).

6. A certificate of no criminal record, or a certificate from the juvenile affairs department on the absence of registration in the internal affairs bodies (juvenile police).

7. A document (if any) confirming the sports category, a prize place in the republican or international competition or at the international Olympiad in general education subjects in the current year, as well as at the Presidential or Republican Olympiad in general education subjects in the current year.

8. The orphans and children who have been left without the care of one or both parents in connection with the restriction or deprivation of parental rights, the recognition of the parents as missing, the declaration of their death, the recognition of their incapacity (partial incapacity), as well as in other cases of lack of parental care, should also submit one of the following documents:

a certificate of death of the parents;

a court decision on restriction or deprivation of parental rights of the parents;

a court decision recognizing the parents as missing, declaring them deceased or declaring them incapable (partially capable).

9. Children of military personnel who died or became disabled while performing military service duties and of those who have disappeared while performing military service, submit a certificate from the local military administration at the place of residence.
