Jenniffer González-Colón (New Progressive Party) is the Governor of Puerto Rico. She assumed office on January 2, 2025. Her current term ends on January 2, 2028.
González-Colón (New Progressive Party) ran for election for Governor of Puerto Rico. She won in the general election on November 5, 2024.
González-Colón also ran for re-election for Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico. She did not appear on the ballot for the general election on November 5, 2024.
According to her US House biography, Gonzalez-Colon is a "lifelong Republican and activist for Puerto Rican statehood."[1] Gonzalez-Colon was previously the chairwoman of the Republican Party of Puerto Rico.
Biography
Jenniffer González-Colón was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. González-Colón earned a bachelor's degree from The University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras in 2001, a juris doctor degree from Inter American University of Puerto Rico, San Juan in 2010, and a master of laws degree from Inter American University of Puerto Rico, San Juan in 2014.[2]
González-Colón served as the vice president of the New Progressive Party from 2008 to 2016 and was the president of the Puerto Rico Republican Party from 2004 to 2016.[3]
