Dianne Hesselbein (Democratic Party) is a member of the Wisconsin State Senate, representing District 27. She assumed office on January 3, 2023. Her current term ends on January 4, 2027.
Hesselbein (Democratic Party) ran for election to the Wisconsin State Senate to represent District 27. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Hesselbein has served as state Senate minority leader since December 1, 2023.[1]
Biography
Dianne Hesselbein was born in Wisconsin, and lives in Middleton. Hesselbein graduated from LaFollette High School. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a master’s degree in religious studies at Edgewood College.[2]
Hesselbein was elected to the Middleton-Cross Plains School District board of education in 2005 and to the Dane County board of supervisors in 2008. She volunteered in the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, the Girl Scouts of America, and as a friend of the Pheasant Branch Conservancy.[2]

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 2, 2014. Incumbent Dianne Hesselbein was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Brent Renteria was unopposed in the Republican primary. Hesselbein and Renteria faced off in the general election.[7][8] Incumbent Hasselbein defeated Renteria in the general election, and was re-elected for another term.[9]
