In 1963, the Arkansas State Hospital, known originally as the Arkansas Lunatic Asylum, was destroyed and all traces of the buildings that once towered over Little Rock vanished.

As time passed, memories of the original hospital faded, and the surviving documents and photographs were scattered across the state into different archives and libraries. Information online has been rare, until now.
