Commanders interviewed Titans DC Dennard Wilson for their defensive coordinator vacancy.

Wilson’s work was often overlooked toiling behind Brian Callahan’s horrific offense over the past two years, but the Titans played well on run defense and at least came up with some exotic blitz looks to deal with their lack of pass-rush surge. Still under contract with the Titans, Wilson would likely be allowed to walk as the Titans new head coach wouldn’t necessarily want to retain him.
David Blough

WAS Offensive Coordinator

Commanders hired David Blough as offensive coordinator.

The former NFL quarterback was on the Lions’ practice squad as recently as 2023. Blough, 30, has just two years of coaching experience, both with the Commanders as their assistant quarterbacks coach. The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala notes that Blough “helped fill in when QBs coach Tavita Pritchard left for Stanford” in November. The Commanders were evidently impressed with Blough’s ability to rise to the occasion. The Lions had requested an interview with Blough for their vacant offensive coordinator role earlier this week.

Lions and Commanders scheduled interviews with Ravens QB coach Tee Martin for their offensive coordinator vacancies next week.

Per Jordan Schultz, “has done extensive work for Baltimore’s passing game as a whole” over the last three seasons, “helping propel Lamar Jackson to the 2023 NFL MVP.” Martin coach the Ravens’ wide receivers in the two prior seasons. These are the first reported interviews scheduled for Martin this offseason.

ESPN’s John Keim reports Dan Quinn “wanted a different offensive identity and spoke often with his staff of wanting a better run-pass balance.”

‘Bill’ Croskey-Merritt and restricted free agent Chris Rodriguez would stand to gain fantasy value if the Commanders focused on a more run-focused approach, as they seem like a team that has limited resources to dedicate to the running back position this offseason. It’s hard to speculate on who the Commanders could bring in to install a scheme that’s akin to what Quinn desires just based on the idea of more run-pass balance, but the search to replace Kliff Kingsbury looks destined to bring in someone with a more buttoned-up run game.

Commanders completed an interview with Chiefs DL coach Joe Cullen for their defensive coordinator vacancy.

Jacksonville’s defensive coordinator for one disastrous 2021 season with Urban Meyer, Cullen is a long-time NFL defensive line coach. If the Commanders went forward with him, it would likely be a nod to Dan Quinn continuing to call plays. Cullen has been Kansas City’s defensive line coach since 2022.

Commanders interviewed Cardinals WR coach and passing-game coordinator Drew Terrell for their offensive coordinator vacancy.

Terrell, then Commanders receivers coach, got a request for the Cardinals OC job before coming over to join Jonathan Gannon’s staff when Ron Rivera was fired. It sounds like with the Cardinals in the midst of a regime change of their own, Terrell has a chance to be considered for their OC role or perhaps reprise his passing-game coordinator role for the Commanders. They also interviewed in-house candidates, some of which are speculated to be David Blough, Brian Johnson, and Anthony Lynn, for the vacancy.
Marshon Lattimore

WAS Cornerback #2

Commanders CB Marshon Lattimore “was taken into custody for carrying concealed weapons” and “later released pending further investigation.”

Lattimore was taken into custody by Lakewood Police, located just outside of Cleveland, Ohio. More details on the issue have not yet been shared. Lattimore has one year remaining on his contract with the Commanders, though the team can save all $18.5 million that he is scheduled to make in 2026 by releasing him this offseason.

Commanders have requested an interview with Raiders DC Patrick Graham for their defensive coordinator vacancy.

The Raiders had a bumpy year, but Graham’s defense allowed the 11th-fewest yards per play (5.1) to opponents this season. Graham interviewed for the Jaguars, Chargers and Seahawks head-coaching vacancies in 2025. The Commanders’ defense struggled under defensive-minded head coach Dan Quinn this year. Adding Graham to his staff could be a very smart move.

Commanders signed WR Ja’Corey Brooks, CB Tre Hawkins, DE D.J. Johnson, WR Jacoby Jones, DE TJ Maguranyanga, S Rob McDaniel, T Tim McKay, CB Darius Rush, CB Car’lin Vigers, G Sala Aumavae-Laulu and DT Ricky Barber to reserve/future contracts.

In case you’re wondering, it’s not former Texans/Ravens wideout Jacoby Jones, but a wholly different Jacoby Jones who came out of UCF as an undrafted free agent in 2025. This Jones ran a 4.68s 40-yard-dash and is more of a special teamer who hangs around the roster. Glad we could clear that up for you. And us. But mainly you.
Kliff Kingsbury

FA Offensive Coordinator

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports the Giants and Titans are expected to interview former Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury for their head coaching vacancies.

Kingsbury’s work with young quarterbacks is certainly a selling point for both the Giants and Titans after Kingsbury’s success with Jayden Daniels in 2024. Kingsbury’s Washington offense was surprisingly efficient in 2025 despite the team missing Daniels for much of the regular season. Washington’s offense in 2025 was somehow 16th in EPA per play. They were ninth in offensive success rate and 12th in yards per play, ahead of postseason teams like the Broncos, Panthers, Eagles, Chargers, Jaguars, and Steelers. Kingsbury would be a boon for either Jaxson Dart or Cam Ward in 2026 and beyond.
