Swansea City's kit through the years
1912-62: in the first 50 years of their existence the Swans hardly changed their kit at all. The themes were usually based around white shirts and shorts with the odd hint of black and occasional orange.1 of 31 1962-63: In 1962 we saw the first experimentation with orange in this ensemble, which must have looked quite daring at the time.2 of 31 1970-75: In the early 70s club crests were introduced and the swan made its debut. It remains to this day.3 of 31 1970s away kit: Did somebody mention daring? The designer for this one must have had serious concerns about the standard of floodlights in the lower divisions.4 of 31 1975-79: As the 70s reached its second half, designs got more daring, as we see here. Were these the last zig-zags we were to see?5 of 31 1978-79: A the end of the 70s the understated look made a comeback and the black zig-zags were shelved.6 of 31 1979-81: One of the true greats. As the Swans soared up the leagues, they did in style in this classy Adidas number.7 of 31 1981: Could it really be blue? To go alongside the ace kit of the early 80s the Swans embraced this classy change strip.8 of 31 1981-84: As they slipped back down the leagues, they didn't quite look so sharp in this Partick number.9 of 31 1984-87: Hummel brought zig-zags back in the mid 80s during a period of mediocrity at the Vetch.10 of 31 1987-91: After three seasons, the zig-zags were consigned to history and this plain Admiral number was king.11 of 31 1991-92: In the early 90s this plain white outfit was the calm before a stunning storm of wavy orange stripes that were to follow.12 of 31 1992-94: For some reason, these tiger stripes were thought to be a good idea by the person who designed this Swansea City kit once worn by Frank Lampard.13 of 31 1994-95: After surviving two seasons, the tiger stripes were dropped but replaced by something arguably worse.14 of 31 1995-9615 of 31 1996-97: This shirt might have been sponsored by a rival media organisation but we think it's one of the picks of the 1990s.16 of 31 2000-01: The turn of the millennium saw the Swans sail dangerously close to a red home kit. Thankfully the designers kept enough white to keep the fans happy.17 of 31 2002-04: The Swans' worst season in their proud Football League history. Travel House were the sponsors and we can still see Roberto, Leon and James Thomas charging around in this strip.18 of 31 2004-05: This new kit sparked a turn in fortune for the Swans as Kenny Jackett led them to promotion from the Football League's dungeon for the last time - hopefully19 of 31 2005-06: Travel House stayed into the mid noughties as the Swans continued their climb towards the big time.20 of 31 2006-07: And for some reason, in 2006, one black sleeve was added to the shirt design.21 of 31 2007-08: Promotion to the Championship was secured in this shirt in 2007-822 of 31 2007-08: We said in the last slide that promotion was secured in that shirt. In fact, promotion was secured at Gillingham wearing this green and black number.23 of 31 2008-09: With Jason Scotland banging in the goals and a long-awaited derby victory over Cardiff to celebrate, the Swans enjoyed wearing this kit.24 of 31 2008-09: Hang on...is this another blue away kit? Like Adidas in the 80s, Umbro get away with this because it's a nice kit.25 of 31 2009-10: The class of Paulo Sousa just missed out on the play-offs in this kit, which was veering a bit too close to mid 90s retro style.26 of 31 2010-11: This Umbro number will be treasured by Swans fans forever for it's the one they wore at Wembley when Scott Sinclair fired them to the Premier League.27 of 31 2011-12: Welcome Premier League and welcome back Adidas. As if by magic, the last time the Swans wore the biggest brand in sportswear they were in the top flight.28 of 31 2012-13: This gold trimmed number was a centenary special and was worn at Wembley by Ash and Monks as they raised the League Cup aloft.29 of 31 2013-14: The kit that went to Europe. The third straight Adidas kit might look a little busy but got some great outings against the likes of Valencia at Napoli last season as Swans flew the flag across Europe.30 of 31 The 2014-15 shirt31 of 31
