Russian missiles are reported to have hit Kyiv this morning for the first time in months, in apparent retaliation for Ukraine’s attack on the a key bridge linking occupied Crimea to Russia.
Three loud explosions were heard in centre of the Ukrainian capital at around 8.15am local time (6.15am BST), with witnesses reporting a cloud of black smoke rising from buildings.
Overnight, attacks were also reported in the cities of Dnipro and Zaporizhzhya, a day after Russia’s leader blamed Ukraine for “an act of terrorism”.
Air raid sirens were sounding in Kyiv more than an hour before the blasts, and a BBC crew on the roof of a hotel were reported to have witnessed one of the missile strikes. There were no immediate reports of
