GENERAL:
• Be able to identify and interpret accounting concepts.
• Be able to read transactions and complete journals and general ledger.
• Be able to interpret information (case study) and answer questions.
• Be able to read through information and use it to complete journals and ledger.
• Be able to identify variables and interpret the information given.
• Be able to read with comprehension and follow instructions.

CONTENT:
Accounting concepts
• Name and classify assets, owners’ equity, and liabilities.
• Identify incomes and expenses, as well as general accounting concepts like EFT, or sole
trader.
• Name, identify and classify the correct source document, with the correct transaction.
• Be able to calculate cost price and selling price, using information given.

Accounting equation
• Show the effect on assets, owners’ equity or liabilities.
• Identify different accounts affected whether are the assets, owner’s equity.
• Complete and balance the accounting equation for cash receipts, cash payments.
• Be able to IDENTIFY which account to be debited and account to be credited in the transaction
analysis.
• Name, identify and classify the correct source document, with the correct transaction.

Journals
• Be able to complete the different journals (CRJ, CPJ, DJ and CJ) by interpreting the
transactions given.
• Use the correct source documents in the correct journals.
• Name and classify transactions to record transactions in the correct columns in the journals.
• Name and classify assets, owners’ equity, incomes, and expenses to record information in the
correct journals.

General Ledger and subsidiary ledgers


• Name and classify assets, owners’ equity, liabilities, incomes, and expenses to record
information in the correct ledger accounts
• Interpret information to develop and rearrange the correct ledger account.
• Know the format and how to draw up general ledger.
• Balance and complete the ledger accounts.
• Be able to apply double entry principle.

Trial Balance
• Know which accounts to be debited and which accounts to be credited
• Identify accounts of balance sheet accounts and nominal accounts section.
