Refrasil Cloth AR100 Series

Abrasion Resistant Insulation

Refrasil AR100 Series Cloth is an abrasion resistant, high temperature insulation material
that can withstand continuous operating temperatures up to 982ºC. It is produced through a
chemical leaching process of specially formulated glass fibres, then an abrasion resistant
coating is applied for increased durability. This grade of cloth is flexible and maintains high
mechanical strength and exceptional thermal properties at elevated temperatures. Its
abrasion resistance layer helps reduce wear and tearing if it being dragged or moved around
the worksite, but his layer will begin to degrade at 175ºC.

AR100 cloth is commonly used to provide a barrier between machinery and personnel to help
ensure there is no damage or injury while allowing routine maintenance or operations to
continue. Due to its high temperature rating, it is quite often used as a shield where molten
metal splatter, sparks and risk of fire is present. Refrasil cloths are also used to slow down
the cooling process after welding and can be sewn into pillows, blankets, curtains, and
welding screens.
