Tool - Two Types


Rules
❖ Always rough out the stock at slow speed, remove square corners
❖ No spectators, exceptions:Tutoring, or instructions given by instructors
❖ As the wood’s diameter decreases, move the tool rest closer to the work
❖ Always remove the tool rest when sanding
❖ Never touch the work with your bare hands when it’s in motion
❖ Hold tools firmly in both hands
❖ Never wear loose clothing Jewelry and/or long hair when turning
❖ Always keep the tools sharp.When they become dull ast the instructor to sharpen them
❖ Use the right tool for the job
❖ Before turning on the machine, always spin the work ny hand to make sure it clears the tool rest
❖ Before turning on the lathe, make sure the spindle turnings are secure between centers

Plumb Bob
Steps:
● Old tool that is used to measure the levelness 1. Cut a 4” peice of hex rod and sand rust off Lock

4. Cut the cone of the plumb bob at 0.001 a pass
and 1000 RPMs
5. Reverse your part in the chuck and face the end
of the part
6. Create the step of the peice accori=ding to the
layout
7. Center tap and drill and thread the a.18” hole in
the back
8. Sand at the sanding station with 120 drit pad
9. Take the buffer and polish
