MOFA Fuze

The M782 is the Army's newest all-purpose artillery fuze that can be used with 105mm and 155mm projectiles. It replaces existing proximity, point detonating, and time fuses. The M782 offers faster setting times, improved accuracy for height-of-burst, improved time functions in 0.1 second increments up to 199.9 seconds, and increased reliability above 97% in all firing modes. It functions in point detonating, delay, proximity, and electronic time modes with a maximum mission duration of 200 seconds and 50 kilometers.

M782 MOFA

M782 is the Army’s newest-generation, NATO standard, all purpose

artillery fuze for bursting munitions.
The M782 is an inductively set proximity, time, delay after impact, and point detonating (PD) fuze. It is oper-
able with all existing and developmental artillery systems (105mm and 155mm). It is operable with all bulk
filled projectiles such as high- explosive rounds or illuminating rounds.

Features and Benefits

• Replaces existing proximity, point detonating, and time fuzes for bursting munitions
• Faster setting (<1.5 seconds inductive set) and fewer setting errors
• Improved height-of-burst (HOB) accuracy: >95 percent lethality regardless of terrain or firing conditions
• Improved time accuracy: 0.1 second increments to 199.9 seconds
• Improved battery performance: exceeds 200 second operational life by over 100 percent
• Increased reliability because of robust design and improved producibility: >97 percent in all firing modes
• Innovative electronics packaging and flex circuitry, reduced parts and interconnects
• Survivable against all known ECM threats

MOFA Function Modes
• Point Detonating (PD) Impact — Functions at target impact in Point Detonating Super Quick mode
• Delay Time — Functions after target impact in Delay mode (time = 5 to 10ms)
• Proximity Distance — Functions 9 to 10 meters HOB (height of burst) over normal terrain
• Electronic Time — Functions at preset time from 0.5 second to 199.9 seconds in 0.1 second increments.
Backup mode is PD impact.
• Inductive Auto Set — Set in <1.5 seconds for all modes using fuze auto setter. Meets all STANAG 4369
requirements.
