UH-60 Black Hawk Nonlethal Loading Plan

This document provides a graphic training aid showing soldiers how to safely load and unload a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter while carrying nonlethal equipment. It displays the order that 10 military force members, a military working dog and handler, and interpreter would load and unload from the helicopter. The graphic highlights the need for care when moving bulky riot shields and importance of securing the helicopter after off-loading to avoid damage from rotor wash.

NONLETHAL CAPABILITIES
LOADING PLAN FOR THE UH-60 BLACK HAWK
HELICOPTER
The Nonlethal Capability Set (NLCS) is specifically designed to support Army
units selected to participate in ground force operations where a nonlethal (NL)
capability may be required. The components of the set are intended to enhance
a unit’s capability across the range of military operations. The NLCS is
intended to augment, not replace, currently fielded weapon systems and
munitions.
This graphic training aid (GTA) supports the training presented in the NLCS
Training Support Package and will assist soldiers during loading and
unloading of the Black Hawk helicopter.
The distance to the operation, the terrain, or the required reaction time may
dictate troop transport by helicopter. Troops must be careful when loading and
unloading with bulky equipment, such as shields, to avoid being blown off
balance and injured by the rotor wash. The helicopter must be carefully
guarded or removed from the area to avoid damage to the aircraft. Ideally, it
can be used to support the operation after off-loading the troops. Figure 1
shows soldiers how to load themselves and their NL equipment onto a UH-60
Black Hawk helicopter.
