VDM-11 is a small molecule inhibitor of the anandamide membrane transporter (AMT), the enzyme responsible for cellular reuptake of the endogenous cannabinoid Anandamide (sc-200790). Inhibition of Anandamide uptake by VDM-11 blocks inactivation of the endocannabinoid signal, and this maintenance of Anandamide concentration has been demonstrated to confer CB1-mediated inhibition of tumor proliferation. VDM-11 shows no agonist activity at the TRPV1 receptor as other Anandamide-mimic AMT inhibitors have been reported to do. VDM-11 is an inhibitor of FAAH and Monoglyceride Lipase.
