Apple is once again likely to compensate Samsung for not ordering enough OLED panels as per their initial contract. The shortfall in orders from Apple is being attributed to the poor demand for the iPhone 12 mini.
Apple has been fined nearly $2 million in Brazil for selling iPhones without a charger in the box, citing environmental reasons. The fine has been imposed by Procon-SP, the Brazilian consumer protection regulator in Sāo Paulo.
Apple will reportedly start showing a dialog box to Russian users when they set up an iPhone, iPad, or a Mac for the first time to install some pre-approved government apps on the device.
When the iPhone first launched, its developer tools were not that rich and Apple did not really encourage third-party apps. It was only a few months after the iPhone’s launch that Apple decided to release a developer kit for the iPhone. Since Pandora was growing rapidly in popularity back then, it wanted to be among the first music streaming apps to be available on the platform.
Thanks to bumper iPhone sales in Q4 2020, Apple surpassed Samsung to become the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer of the world. The company had previously achieved a similar feat in 2016.
Apple stopped revealing the number of iPhone units it sells every quarter a couple of years ago. The company reported a blowout Q1 2021 earnings yesterday with revenues of over $100 billion, but did not reveal how many iPhones it sold. Now, as per analytics firm IDC, Apple shipped a staggering 90.1 million iPhones in the last quarter of 2020.
Apple posted a strong quarterly result this morning, with the company hitting $111.4 billion in quarterly revenue. Along with the quarterly results, Apple also shared that a record number of users are using an iPhone.
