Once the northern part of Muar district, Tangkak is the newest addition to the districts of Johor. Encompassed within it is Gunung Ledang National Park, where the highest mountain in Johor beckons to be conquered. Also known as Mount Ophir, Gunung Ledang is a mountain shrouded in mystery, the allure of which is attributed to its fabled mystical princess, Puteri Gunung Ledang.

The Johor National Parks is home to Ledang Resort, the cascading falls of Puteri Waterfall, as well as various levels of hiking trails designed for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
The district’s principal town and capital of Tangkak is nicknamed Fabric Town or Syurga Kain in honour of its countless textile shops, which offer an array of local and international textiles. After a day of being spellbound by the small-town feel, a bowl of Restoran Kuang Fei’s infamous Tangkak beef noodles comes highly recommended.
