The final Lord of the Rings film won four prizes at the Critics' Choice Awards in the US - including best film.
The Return of the King beat nine other films to take the top prize, while Peter Jackson was named best director.
The film also took the best acting ensemble prize, while Howard Shore won best composer for his soundtrack.
Other winners selected by US critics included Sean Penn, who won best actor for Mystic River, and Charlize Theron - named best actress for Monster.
Theron won for her portrayal of serial killer Aileen Wuornos, while Renee Zellweger was voted best supporting actress for her part US Civil War drama Cold Mountain.

Mystic River was the only other film to win more than one accolade, with Tim Robbins winning best supporting actor.
And Whale Rider's New Zealand star Keisha Castle-Hughes was chosen as best young actor/actress for her portrayal of a Maori leader.
French-Canadian director Denys Arcand's The Barbarian
Invasions won best foreign language film.
The Critics Choice Awards, voted by members of the Broadcast
Film Critics Association, were presented at a Beverly Hills hotel
late Saturday.
They are seen by some commentators to point towards which films may reap Oscars success next month.
