Graduated from Higher Air Force School, Tambov, 1967, from the Test Pilot School in Akhtubinsk, 1976, and from Moscow Aviation Institute, 1981. Test Pilot, State Red-Banner Scientific Research Institute named for Chkalov of Russian AF. Colonel, and test pilot, State Red-Banner Scientific Research Institute named for Chkalov of Russian Air Force. Cosmonaut training January 1979 - November 1980. Buran Test Pilot, 1978-1987. Worked at headquarters of Russian Air Force until 1995. From 1995 to 1997 he was a Tu-134 Commander for Alrosa-Avia, and from 1997 to 1998 a Deputy Director at the Polyus Company. This was followed by service as a pilot for the Tefis Aviation Company. From 1999 he was a Flight Commander for the Krylo Company.
