Next Stage
As well as showcasing the greatest music legends, the Electric Proms are looking to pass the baton onto the next generation of music makers with 'Next Stage'.
We want to give bands and artists right across the UK the opportunity to get to the next stage in their music career. It could be trying out a new style or a new genre of music, working with a producer or recording with new equipment.
Twelve national and regional BBC radio stations helped us scour the country for artists and asked them to suggest an area to be intensively work-shopped - i.e. lyrics, performance, recording, sound, vocals, mixing etc. At the start of October we matched these artists with industry experts who provided invaluable advice to help them improve.
Nine of the artists played at the Electric Proms at Camden's Barfly on Sunday 29 October. See the photos.
Many of the artists toured the UK in November and December 2006 on the Next Stage tour.
