Teenage defender John Stones and young midfielder Paul Digby could feature for Barnsley this weekend.
The pair, aged 17 and 16 respectively, may be drafted in to reinforce manager Keith Hill's injury-ravaged squad.
Leeds defender Tom Lees is struggling to be passed fit after suffering concussion on Boxing Day.
Lees' clash of heads against Derby at Pride Park could hand a start to Alex Bruce, who has been recalled from his loan spell at Huddersfield.
