President Barack Obama has named the Honorable Alfonso E. Lenhardt as his Ambassador-designate to the United Republic of Tanzania. Under the U.S. system of government, the President appoints Ambassadors by and with the advice and consent of the United States Senate.
Since May 2004, Lenhardt has been the President and CEO of the non-profit National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC). He was also Senior Vice President of Government Relations for The Shaw Group.
