This Facebook Application gives you access to WorldCat searches and user-created lists from personalized pages within your Facebook account. The application includes a Home screen with WorldCat search box, as well as quick links to WorldCat searches based on topics listed in your Facebook profile as personal interests. Installation notes

You will need to log in to your Facebook account, or create an account, before installing the WorldCat application. Once you have logged in and reached the installation page, lick the Add Application button, modify the default Facebook application settings if desired, and click the Add WorldCat button.

How to use

If you did not modify the default Facebook application settings during installation, a WorldCat search box will be available from your Profile page, and a link to the full WorldCat application will appear on the left-hand list of Applications displayed below the Facebook search box. Click it to load the application's home page.

Firefox browser search extension

If Firefox is your browser of choice, install this extension to add WorldCat library results to the Search Bar. WorldCat will appear as an option in the Search Bar menu.

Enter a term in the Search Bar and select the WorldCat option from the dropdown menu.

Google Toolbar

For Internet Explorer 6+ (Windows Vista/2000/XP) or Firefox (Windows XP/2000 SP3+); Mac OS X 10.2+

Ideal for those who consult bookselling sites first for information, Google Toolbar links you directly to WorldCat results when it detects ISBNs (standard book identifying numbers) on the Web pages you visit. Its context-sensitive AutoLink feature converts an ISBN to a hyperlink leading to WorldCat library information for the item.

Installation notes

WorldCat searching must be configured in Google Toolbar's Options before use. After installing the Toolbar, click the Settings button and select Options in the button menu.(You can also click "Change Default Provider" on the Autolink button menu). The Toolbar Options window opens.

With the Features panel selected, make sure the AutoLink checkbox is checked, and click the AutoLink Settings button. In the new window, click the ISBN Information Provider menu and select "WorldCat." Click OK to exit this window, and click OK again to exit the Toolbar Options window.

How to use

When an ISBN is detected, the Toolbar's AutoLink button converts to a Show Book Info button. Click Show Book Info to change all detected ISBNs to hyperlinks. Place your mouse pointer over links to see AutoLink notations. Click links to get WorldCat results.
