“Moulin Rouge” was on top of the world when the Intl. Press Academy announced the nominations for the sixth annual Golden Satellite Awards.
Fox’s musical led all films with 14 noms including best picture, actor, actress, supporting actor, director and screenplay. New Line’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” was next with nine.

Drama series nominees are “The West Wing,” “The Sopranos,” “Six Feet Under,” “The District” and “24.” Comedy or musical series nominations went to “Frasier,” “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “Dharma & Greg,” “Sex and the City” and “Friends.”
Karl Malden will receive the Mary Pickford Award. Ceremony will be held Jan. 19 at the St. Regis Hotel in Century City.
