“Moulin Rouge” was on top of the world when the Intl. Press Academy announced the nominations for the sixth annual Golden Satellite Awards.
Fox’s musical led all films with 14 noms including best picture, actor, actress, supporting actor, director and screenplay. New Line’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” was next with nine.
Nicole Kidman was a double nominee, for “Rouge” and Dimension’s “The Others.” Chiller spooked up six noms, as did Fine Line’s gender-bending “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” and Touchstone’s “The Royal Tenenbaums.” USA’s “Gosford Park” and Warner blockbuster “Harry Potter” followed with five each.
