The Hon. Fred J. Fujioka is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in 2002 by former Governor Gray Davis.
Fujioka is a Japanese-American. His grandparents were sent to an internment camp within hours of the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. In 2002 UC Berkeley awarded a posthumous degree to his father William who was unable to finish his academics because of the war.
Judge Fujioka received his B.A. from the University of Southern California. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California Boalt Hall School of Law now known as Berkeley Law in 1977.
After graduating from law school, Fujioka joined the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office as a deputy public defender. Prior to his appointment to the Superior Court, he was a partner with the law firm of Gomez, Fujioka, and Furukawa.
During his time on the bench, Judge Fujioka has presided over the Juvenile Court.
