Summary

• Horst Wessel, a young and "martyred" hero of the National Socialists, wrote the marching-song which accompanies his picture on Card 234. It was a rabble-rousing anthem, and was regularly sung in Germany after the patriotic "Deutschlandlied" (see Cards 133 - 134).
