Rod Stewart Announces Two-Year Las Vegas Residency

Rod Stewart has signed on for a two-year residency at Las Vegas’ Colosseum at Caesars Palace, the same venue that also hosts ongoing shows by Elton John and Celine Dion. Stewart’s show, titled Rod Stewart: The Hits, will focus on the singer’s most famous tunes, such as “Maggie May,” “The First Cut is the Deepest” and “Reason to Believe.”

In an interview with Billboard, Stewart says that intends to give his fans a straight-ahead rock show: “We’ll try to give the people what they want, which are the songs that made me famous, plus a few surprises. There won’t be any magicians or midgets, just a good rock show.” The singer previewed the show with eight performances at the venue last year. Those 18-song sets included a generous helping of hits along with covers such as Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary” and the pop standard “I Get A Kick Out of You.”
The first 18 concerts of Stewart’s residency will go on sale May 15th.
