The United States Mission to the United Nations (USUN) is the United States delegation to the United Nations. The USUN was created by Congress in 1947 in order "to assist the President and the Department of State in conducting United States policy at the United Nations."[1]

As of January 23, 2025, Dorothy Shea served as the acting U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. President Donald Trump (R) nominated Michael Waltz to serve as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations in his second presidential term. Click here to read more about her confirmation process.
