|Mark graduated from high school in Crystal Falls in 1966, and attended Northern Michigan University 1966-70, earning a B.A. in history and political science in 1970. He earned a Master of Education degree from American International College, Springfield, MA, in 1983, and a Master of Divinity from Meadville Lombard Theological School, Chicago IL, in 1991. Mark has been a small business owner, a high school history teacher, and a Unitarian Universalist pastor. He moved to Maine in 1991, serving Unitarian Universalist churches in Ellsworth and Castine, Maine, and in Westborough and Harvard, Massachusetts, retiring in 2017. He has served on the Boards of Down East AIDS Network and Downeast Community Partners, and is currently on the Board of Ellsworth Historical Society. He was married to Michelle "Mickey" Worth from 1979 until her death in February of 2023.
Mark was elected to the Maine House of Representatives in 2022, and serves on the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee. He is the primary sponsor of LD 2131, An Act to Support Extended Learning Opportunities, which passed during the Maine 131st Legislature.- While Democrats and Republicans have some philosophical differences, and there are some bills we will never see eye-to-eye on, there are also areas of agreement. We all want safe communities, good roads, clean air and water, and good schools. As a Democrat, I genuinely like most of my Republican colleagues in the legislature, and we have worked together on many bills. Regardless of what happens in Washington DC, there's much we can do here in Maine to support our teachers and students, to improve housing, and to create job opportunities. By finding common ground, we can work together to accomplish these goals.
- Affordable housing is a real problem in Maine. The Ellsworth area has had an increase in job opportunities in recent years, and more jobs means more people looking for housing. We must find a way to increase the availability of affordable housing in the area.
- I would like to see a ban on flavored tobacco products, which are marketed to entice and addict younger customers. This was the greatest area of agreement I had with my Republican opponent in the 2022 election, and I'm disappointed it did not come to a vote in the 131st Legislature. My wife died in 2023 from illnesses caused by smoking tobacco products, and this is personal to me. If re-elected, a ban on flavored tobacco products will be one of my priorities.
As our population ages, we have to have better access to nursing care facilities for our elderly family members.
As stated above, I would like to see a ban on flavored tobacco products.
I'm pro-choice. Personal medical decisions should be between a woman and her doctor, and should not be decided by Congress or state legislatures.
I believe everyone should be treated fairly, and so I support LGBTQ+ rights.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
