Brazilian governor’s son killed in helicopter crash

SAO PAULO (AP) — Brazilian officials say the son of the governor Sao Paulo state was among the five people killed when their helicopter crashed into a house on the outskirts of Sao Paulo.

The accident occurred Thursday afternoon in a residential neighborhood in the town of Carapicuiba.

The death of Thomaz Rodrigues Alckmin,was confirmed in statement posted Friday on the website of the Sao Paulo state government. He’s the 31-year-old son of Gov. Geraldo Alckmin.

Police say the governor’s son was a professional pilot who was making a post-maintenance test flight at the time of the crash.

No one on the ground was hurt.

Police said they are investigating what caused the accident.
