Iloilo Financial Profile 2009 - Income Ranking of Iloilo Towns

As Explore Iloilo’s yearly tradition, here’s the report on the 2009 Income of Iloilo Towns and Cities. Check out how much each town and city earned for the 2009 and their growth compared to the previous year. A Local Government Unit’s (LGU) income level makes a good indicator to get an idea of how big an LGU is and their capacity to fund big projects for their town. Bear in mind though, that there are also many factors that contribute to a large income like population and land area since the national government allots a bigger budget (IRA) to cities with more population and land area.

In review, all of the “wealthiest” towns in Iloilo except Pavia (listed below) are also towns with the biggest population in the province. Pavia is a special case in the top 15. The town has made the list because of the massive income it gets from locally generated funds like taxes and income generating projects. Pavia hosts many industrial factories being the “Regional Agro-Industrial Center (RAIC)” and has recently received a lot of investments from new residential subdivisions like Ayala Land’s “Avida” and Sta. Lucia”s “Green Meadows.” Because of this, Pavia has become one of the towns in the Philippines that are least dependent on the national government’s internal revenue allotment (IRA).

I was surprised that my hometown’s population is only 27,000 and the land area is 41 square meter? ( sorry but it gave me confusion,would you please elaborate in hundreds or thousand square meter) also, if possible, please publish (latest) all the town’s mayor and his members including municipal employees. Ganoon pa man saludo pa rin ako sa ginagawa mo tungkol sa Iloilo,?Tani indi ka gid maghinto sa pag-publish ng mga latest diri labi na gid ang akon hometown na Balasan. Madamo nga salamat.

Unitop Dumangas… not yet confirmed? Politically motivated because of Citi Square connection? Why not allow them both to enter and give the consent? I don’t think so… but putting them both in Dumangas will kill the small business entrepreneur… ITS DUMANGAS Concern subong ei ara na ang unitop d pa makanegosyo kay Citi Square pasudlon man ?

Oton, simply the place to be…are you asking why oton is on top? Simply because people are paying right taxes and town officials are not corrupt. Ganun lang kasimple yon.

I bet Sta. Barbara will earn a higher rank in the future. Humbly as an ordinary place today but then local and national investors are aiming and acquiring some strategical areas for their businesses. Having a local and international (soon) flights in Iloilo Airport, Sta. Barbara will be the main gateway to Iloilo City and surrounding towns. Numerous investors are now expanding outside Iloilo and Sta. Barbara is one of the major good areas for business.
I hope local government will support this not only to improve our tourism but to push the economic zone in our province.

Being located on the central part of Iloilo, Pototan, a first class municipality is accessible in many towns in the province. It is surrounded by the Municipalities of Dingle, Dueñas, Badiangan, Mina, New Lucena, Zarraga, and Barotac Nuevo
Famed as the Rice Granary and Christmas Capital of Western Visayas, Pototan has lots to offer. It has many existing inland resorts which attract local tourists (but lacks promotion). There is also an ongoing construction of Pototan Swimming Pool Complex parallel to the oval of WVSU Pototan. There is also a shooting range at Brgy. Igang.
Wide roads at its major streets are very noticeable. It has also two public markets and several “mini” department stores and supermarkets. Allied Bank (which has two(2) ATMs), Rural Bank of Anilao and Rural Bank of Pototan are few financial institutions here. It has also one university (WVSU), 2 Pivate Schools(Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion & West Visayan Academy), 5 Public High Schools, 28 Public Elementary Schools and 3 Nursery Christian Schools. Moreover, there are six(6) gasoline stations which cater motorists.
The Iloilo Provincial Hospital, WVMC Mental Health Unit, WV Drug Rehab Center and the Iloilo Rehab Center is also situated here.
With the ongoing construction of KOICA Rice Processing Plant, other ongoing building constructions and increasing population, the Pototanons are looking forward for Pototan’s cityhood.
*According sa tsismis, Jollibee has bought a piece of land in Pototan. Para sa future branch.

Population is an asset. The more consumers, the better for business. With a rising income on top of that, it will make even things better. I just hope the LGUs will legislate and implement the right policies / programs to encourage entrepreneurship and equal distribution of wealth, and minimize graft and corruption. In this way, we will rely less on the nationial goverment for IRAs. To the Ilonggos, keep up the good work!

That’s the ranking. Rank doesn’t mean the wealth is uniformly distributed. if you want the quality of life and stuff( number of concrete homes/professionals/banks/restaurant etc)… you can have the survey of ” income level of each town” and lets see which town have its population with higher income group….apparently…. i see Pavia, Oton, Estancia and Passi” seems have much of its population with “more money with them” although estancia is not in top-15….

FYI oton have the largest count of brgy. in the province of iloilo…come to oton and u will know why it is the best town to live… people are great!!! one of the most friendliest people on earth, responsible, talented, smart and most of all happy individual… we practice good things in oton… u should be there living to understand why ogtonganons are very proud and steadfast about the place…. people in our town are not boastful they just go to the city just wearing ordinary clothes even they are far richer than other people roaming around the city with their vanity clothes. they know how to be hardworking and spend their money wisely… the mayor and its colleagues are very meticulous of providing the people’s well being… you can see the wide progress of oton all over the years bcuz of its unique individuals supporting their own homeland… the certificates that otonian’s has not just in the whole region 6 but in the entire Philippines as well is the very proof of our dedication and our hard work has been paid off…

  correct….. 21 years old are already generating an income. like ga obra sa manila then gapadala sa balay. mostly seaman and ga istar man diri sa oton. anu pagid kung tanan nga lalaki sa oton seaman. subung palang gani taas na ang ranking nga indi gani marecognize sang local government and seaman,

i think your talking a nation problem. this town was awarded for a quality education and a lowest growth rate on the province. but its not really perfect as u illustrate.

What is the population size of Oton? What is its poverty level? What are its minimum wage rates? And what is the over-all quality of life in that area?
A good budget should be 120,000 times the number of human beings in a certain area which ensures that there are enough number of chips revolving in that area and/or government projects/programs that would serve the needs of its population.
Numbers are illusory if the majority of human beings in that area are still complaining about starvation, human rights violations, poor housing, unemployment/no opportunities, stagnating cash flow, illiteracy/idiocy, unsatisfaction/unrest, poor health or rising crime rate.
Numbers aren’t impressive at all.
