Judge Sanju Oommen Green: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Sanju Oommen Green is an associate judge of the Juvenile Justice Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County. She was selected to the bench by the Nominating Committee of the Circuit Court of Cook County in 2018.


Before pursuing a legal career, Green graduated with a B.A. from Loyola University Chicago in 1997. She then went on to earn her J.D. in 2000 from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law.


Before taking the bench seat, Green worked as the State Attorney for Cook County, specializing in criminal, civil, and family law.


Apart from her services to the court, Green is a member of the Indian American Bar Association of Chicago, the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois and the Chicago Bar Association. She also founded the Chicago Chapter of the National Asian Pacific Islander Prosecutors Bar Association and served as secretary for the national board.


Green is a registered Democrat.
