"I am pleased that everything has been sorted out," manager Colin Lee told the club's official website.

"We didn't expect there to be any problems getting a work permit for him, but until it is confirmed in writing there is always a slight worry in the back of your mind.

"David is a player with a good goalscoring record at international level and arrives here highly recommended."

Lee hopes to complete the signing of another Australian, Steve Corica, later this week.

Corica played a key role in Walsall's successful battle against relegation last season and Lee said: "We have agreed a deal but have a final meeting with his agent planned for Thursday where we will tie up all the loose ends."
