Leicester proved too strong for Macclesfield as the Foxes progressed to the second round of the Carling Cup.
Matt Oakley volleyed against the post for the visitors before their dominance was rewarded with a goal as Dany N'Guessan audaciously back-heeled home.
Izak Reid had a deflected shot bounce off the crossbar for the home side as they were denied an equaliser.
But Matty Fryatt sealed Leicester's win when he lashed a left-footed shot high into the net.
Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson told BBC Radio Leicester:
"We are very pleased to get through and delighted with the performance.
"We passed the ball very, very well and I don't think the scoreline represents the dominance we had in the game.
"We were very professional, we showed discipline but also the fashion in which we played was very satisfying."
