Leicester2-1Swansea

Two goals in three second-half minutes saw Leicester come from behind to mark their return to the Championship with victory over Swansea.

Ashley Williams had given the Swans the lead after 17 minutes heading home Mark Gower's corner.

Williams then fouled Bruno Berner, but Steve Howard's penalty was saved.

But Martyn Waghorn got the Foxes level on 69 minutes, his effort deflecting off Williams, before Dany N'Guessan slotted home the winner.

The result was Swansea's fourth successive opening day defeat and first defeat for new boss Paulo Sousa.

He was dealt a further blow by the loss of influential midfielder Joe Allen to a hamstring injury after 25 minutes.

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson:

"We expect big things from ourselves this year, but you have to say there must be a dozen clubs who think they've got a chance to be in the mix at the end of the season.

"I thought we deserved the win although we caused ourselves problems in the first half when we conceded a goal from a set-play."

Interview: Swansea boss Paulo Sousa

Swansea manager Paulo Sousa:

"We started well with personality and confidence like I wanted from my players.

"The key point was when we lost Joe Allen. We started to lose the link in the sectors and then we started to concede the game to them.

"They started the second half more aggressive and I felt a lack of personality in my players, we are much better than we were in the second half."
