The fundamental rights were included in the
constitution because they were considered essential for
the development of the personality of every individual
and to preserve human dignity. Fundamental duties are
intended to serve as a constant reminder to every
citizen that while the constitution specifically conferred
on them certain Fundamental Rights, it also requires
citizens to observe certain basic norms of democratic
conduct and democratic behavior because rights and
duties are co-relative.
Who framed the Fundamental
rights and duties and why?
The Fundamental Duties of citizens were added to
the Constitution by the 42nd Amendment in 1976,
upon the recommendations of the Swaran Singh
Committee that was constituted by the Government.
The 11-member committee, led by Motilal Nehru,
was constituted in 1928.
How many fundamental rights
and duties are there?
There are 6 fundamental rights as well as 11
fundamental duties.
Which country inspired our
fundamental duties?

Our fundamental duties were inspired by the Soviet


Constitution(USSR) which is now called Russia.
How will you ensure the implementation of Fundamental
Duties in your school and your surroundings?
• We should meet the expectations of the parents.
• We should meet the academic expectations by providing right guidance and arrange remedial classes for
those who lag behind.
• We should ensure proper interaction of the students and teachers in
the class thus, broadening their thinking capacities.
• We should ensure discipline and decorum among the school campus.
• Be sensitive towards their environment, and devise ways to protect their environment from pollution,
conserve energy to overcome energy crisis, etc.
What activity/task of the project did you enjoy
the most? Why?
The part of the project that I enjoyed the most was searching and enriching my knowledge as
civics is a very interesting subject and we must know about the fundamental rights and duties of
our country to support it as a civilian of our country.
