One distinctive variety of contemporary English is the jargon
used in radio communications. In this field, there are two
tendencies: One is to create an idiom within a reduced group; the
other is to produce a kind of plain English, as close as possible
to a multinational language.

In the first one , language is used to promote group identity.

This is the case of truckers, CB and radio amateurs. In the second
one, language is used to permit the exchange of information among
people who don't share English as their mother tongue. The best
examples are maritime and air traffic communications, and, as in
the case analized, UN communications.

The need for an English language standard that facilitates

worldwide communications results in an English That will be
understood by many (easily processed by artificial intelligence,
by the way). Curiously, native speakers of English have more
problems, when compared to non-native speakers, to convey

communications.
