SOP - Working at Height

This standard operating procedure outlines safety requirements for working at heights. STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR WORKING AT HEIGHT

 Make sure to check all the required documents before you assign the
work to the workforce.
 Ensure work permit has to be obtained before starting of the work
activity.
 Ensure all the workers who are required to work at height are
physically fit and mentally alert.
 Brief the work force about the job and risks involved in the job
activity.
 Check for all the material to be used in the working at height for any
deformation, wear & tear, any cracks.
 Ensure to deploy only experienced & qualified work force to work at
height.
 Provide safe access & egress to the work place by help of proper
staging or ladders.
 Check for ground clearance while erection of scaffold for working at
height.
 Only qualified & trained scaffold person to be erect the scaffolding,
with all the safety measures like provision of cross bracings and
proper longitudinal supports.
 Do not keep the materials on the working platform where the work is
carried out; make sure all the MS jallies to be secured with rope while
shifting.
 Provide fall protection while working at height.
 Barricade the area where the height works are carried out and
provide the information to the concern responsible person.
 Check for any adjacent structural damages or obstructions for
working at height.
 Provide trained & qualified supervisor to execute the job.
 No multilevel activities to be performed at on location overhead.
 Educate the work force about the falling objects and preventive
measures.
 Make sure to provide appropriate PPE before commencing of work.
 Make sure to take necessary precautions while working in
Gondola(SRP)
 Ensure to make TPI checks to SRP before put into operations.
 Check for the required counter weights are available to hold the
Gondola(SRP)
 In case of emergency, follow the site emergency plan.
