AIM – Connect Two PCs Using RS232 Cable
Introduction: - The RS232 cable is a type of serial communication cable that allows data
transfer between two electronic devices. In this case, it allows us to connect two computers for the
purpose of transferring files or other information. The RS232 cable has two ends, each with nine
pins that connect to the serial ports on the computers.

The RS232 cable is a type of serial communication cable that allows data transfer between two
electronic devices. In this case, it allows us to connect two computers for the purpose of
transferring files or other information. The RS232 cable has two ends, each with nine pins that
connect to the serial ports on the computers.

usually colored grey and has nine pins on This is the serial port on the back of a
either end to plug into the serial ports of the computer that the RS232 cable plugs into. It is
computers you want to connect. usually labeled with the letters "COM"
followed by a number.
• Step to Connect Two PCs Using RS232 Cable.
Step 1: Identify Serial Port
Turn off both computers and locate the serial ports on each computer. They are usually located at
the back of the computer and have nine pins.
Step 2: Connect the Cable
Connect one end of the RS232 cable to the serial port on the first computer and the other end of the
cable to the serial port on the second computer.
Step 3: Power On the Computers
Turn on both computers and wait for the operating system to load.
Step 4: Configure the Connection
On the first computer, click on "Start" and select "Control Panel". Then, click on "Network and
Sharing Center" and select "Change Adapter Settings". Next, right-click on the "Local Area
Connection" icon and select "Properties". In the Properties window, click on "Configure" and
select the "Advanced" tab. From there, select "Network Address" and enter a unique value.
Perform the same steps on the second computer.
• Transfer File Between Computers
Option 1: Drag and Drop
Open the folder containing the files you want to transfer on one of the two computers. Drag the
desired files to a folder on the other computer's desktop. The files should begin copying over
automatically.
Option 2: Use a File Transfer Program
Download and install a file transfer software, like FileZilla or WinSCP. Choose the computer that
you want to copy files from and enter the IP address and login credentials of that computer. Select
the files you want to transfer and move them over to the other computer.
Option 3: Use USB Storage Device
You could copy the files to a USB storage device or an external hard drive and transfer them to the
other computer.

Project Problem Statement/Title
• Brief Introduction: The RS232 cable is a type of serial communication cable that

Aim of the Micro-Project: To help student better understanding and get more
familiar with RS232.
Actual Procedure Followed: Procedure for RS232.
Micro Project is as follows
• First, I learned all about RS2323 from our subject teacher.
• Then increased my information and data about RS232 through various
online videos and webpages including services like YouTube and
Wikipedia.
• Then collected all this data, arranged it order and typed it in easy
to understand and simple format on word document with the help
of Microsoft Office Word 2016.
