Piping Material Engineer

Mission
- Piping Materials Engineers are responsible for specifying the piping materials on a project,
such as pipe, fittings, valves, etc.
- The Piping Material Engineer is also responsible for the technical support of the procurement
process of piping materials, calculations of piping components.
- Depending on the project the Piping Materials engineer is working on, the amount and type of
work will differ.
Task
- Responsible for material selection of piping equipment
- Responsible for the quality of piping material (including tube, pipe, fittings, valves and special
item), fabrication, testing and inspection
- Prepare and follow-up design documentation for piping materials
- Provide expertise and advise the teams involved in tender or execution phase
- Participate in elaboration of the best technical and economical solution regarding piping
materials during tender or execution phase
- Insure the quality regarding the studies especially compliance with codes, standards and project
specifications within respect of planning and costs
- Support the project team regarding interfaces management for piping materials (handling, civil,
steel, structural, equipment, etc.)
- Support the project team regarding design change management for piping materials
- Prepare technical documentation for purchasing activities (datasheets, specifications and
requisition) concerning piping materials
- Perform technical evaluation, clarifications and comparison of vendor offers to support
purchasing activities concerning piping materials
- Perform technical follow-up activity after purchase order placed to vendor concerning piping
materials
