BREAK-AWAY COUPLERS
The R-B Reliable Break-Away couplers and FloMax couplers are designed to safely disconnect the nurse tank hose from any tool bar in the event of a pull-away from the nurse tank, a nurse tank rollover, or any occurrence that would cause the nurse tank hose to become taut. When the coupler disconnects, two check valves immediately close. The inlet check valve, located on the male half of the coupling, remains with the nurse tank hose and protects the nurse tank from releasing NH3 from all piping or vessels located on the tool bar. A minimal release (between 100- 150cc) occurs at separation due to the trapped liquid between the two check valves. The R-B and Flo-Max stainless steel construction of critical operating components eliminates corrosion to guarantee reliable operation in a break-away. Replacement After 3 Years is not a requirement for this coupler. For maximum flow with virtually no drop, the Flo-Max design features swing style check valves that provide a wide open through bore in its operating position. It comes only in 1 1/4" NPT size for flow hungry applications. Ideal for cold weather applications. EXCESS FLOW VALVES

The A1700 series is designed to close when liquid flow exceeds the valve's setting. They are intended to prevent large discharges of LP Gas or NH3 to the atmosphere due to a break in the hose or piping system. All the valves are of steel construction. CAUTION: EXCESS FLOW VALVES CLOSE ONLY WHEN RESTRICTIONS DOWNSTREAM OF THE VALVE DO NOT EXCEED THE FLOW RATING OF THE VALVE. The excess flow valve's closing flow rating must be less than the capacity of the NH3 system in which the valve is being used. Allowance must be made for valves, fittings, hose, etc., in determining the capacity of the system. If branches or restrictions with a smaller capacity than the total system are incorporated, additional excess flow valves must be installed at these points. Manually operate the excess flow valve's poppet before installation to assure parts were not damaged in shipment or blocked with dirt or foreign material. Use pipe dope on the male threads of the valve or the pipeline. Make sure flow is in the direction of the arrow stamped on the body. Large size valves may require an extra length of pipe on the wrench handle to provide increased installation torque. The excess flow valve should be checked periodically for corrosion, spring breakage, binding, or other cause why the valve may not function properly and be replaced if any of these conditions are discovered. This must be done by physically inspecting the valve. Make sure system is empty of product before removing. After an excess flow valve closes, the leakage through the equalizing hole must be controlled or a hazard may be created. For this reason the operator should be familiar with the shutoff valves in the system so that necessary precautions can be taken in an emergency. A RESTRICTION UPSTREAM OF AN EXCESS FLOW VALVE THAT DOES NOT ALLOW A FLOW EQUAL TO THE VALVE FLOW RATING WILL NOT ALLOW THE VALVE TO ACTUATE REGARDLESS OF A BREAK DOWNSTREAM OF THE VALVE. RELIEF VALVES
Opening when pressure rises above a predetermined set point, relief valves are designed to protect tanks, piping, or hose from excessive pressure caused by overfilling or fire. A1325 & A1326 Provides hydrostatic relief for piping or hose and on shutoff valve applications where liquid can become trapped. The relief valve should be replaced 5 years after date of manufacture. A1301 & A1310 Used on applicator, storage, and nurse tanks. Valves should be replaced 5 years after date of manufacture. H722 & H732 Intended primarily for delivery and transport trucks hauling NH3 or LP-gas, these relief valves are of all stainless steel construction for maximum resistance to rust and corrosion. H5112 Internal spring relief valve for stationary or mobile ASME tanks. Mobile applications require a recessed coupling for protection against damage.

GLOBE & ANGLE VALVES

Squibb Taylor globe and angle valves are used in bulk plant piping systems, on bobtails and transport trucks, and for filling and vapor return service. These valves are highly suited for the LP Gas, the anhydrous ammonia, and the chemical and petrochemical industries. Squibb Taylor globe and angle valves are available in both threaded and flanged connections. Threaded connections are available in " FNPT to 3" FNPT sizes. Flanged connections are available in 2" and 3" sizes. Squibb Taylor globe and angle valves are designed for working pressures up to 400 PSI WOG and for operating temperatures from -40 F to + 160 F. VAPOR OR LIQUID SERVICE VALVES

AL407, AL409, AL477, AL478, AL487 and AL479 are service valves. AL407 and AL409 can be supplied with or without excess flow valve; the AL477,AL478, AL487 and AL479 have an excess flow valve. Besides NH3 applicator and nurse tank installations, the valves are also used on bulk plant or truck piping systems for NH3 service. AL 477, AL478, AL487 and AL479 can be installed as an alternative to a separate excess flow valve and angle valve on nurse tank load-out risers. LIQUID WITHDRAWAL VALVES

The A1596, A1597, and A1598 valves consist of a service valve and an excess flow valve. Built in Tri-Gard internal relief valve (A1596 & A1597) bleeds product back to the tank when hose pressure exceeds tank pressure by 50 psig. In this way hose life is extended, chance of hose rupture is reduced, and personnel are protected. The A1598 has a 1/4" FNPT plugged side outlet connection that can be used to install a hydrostatic relief valve. See instruction manual for proper valve operation.

ROTASEAL HOSE SWIVEL

The RotaSeal increases freedom of movement to make attaching or disconnecting hose end valves easier. It also prevents twisting of the hose. Sealed radial ball bearings make rotation torque of the swivel unaffected by pressure in the hose. Unique TFE Pressure Core seals are field serviceable. Full bore opening of the RotaSeal offers no flow restrictions. Lightweight yet sturdy enough to withstand rough handling. 400 psi maximum working pressure.

HOSE END VALVES

Intended for NH3 hose end service, these quick acting shutoff valves are available in globe or angle body styles. A special locking clip or a spring actuated locking handle minimizes the chance of accidental opening. AL343 and AL362 minimizes NH3 leakage when disconnecting by locating the seat disc in the bottom of the filler coupling. Ball bearings in the seat disc assembly allow the entire assembly to rotate when the disc touches the seat. This helps prevent wear and cutting of the disc, giving longer service life. The operating handle can also be moved to any position without cutting the seat.

IMPELLICONE FLOW DIVIDERS

CDS-JOHN BLUE IMPELLICONE
The CDS-John Blue Impellicone is a flow divider designed for Anhydrous Ammonia (NH3). It distributes NH3 to multiple rows across an applicator with the accuracy and flexibility you have come to expect from CDS-John Blue Products. Impellicones name comes from the unique shaped needle, which spins and mixes the liquid and gas phases distributing them evenly to the number of outlets you need. The CDS-John Blue Impellicone can be used for all NH3 applications at normal rates, while also offering the flexibility to plug unused outlets without sacrificing accuracy. The Impellicones superior accuracy allows better control of targeted rates greatly reducing the over-application of NH3. This will result in less nitrogen leaching, lower crop yield variability and ultimately lowering overall application costs. The Impellicone concept was researched by Iowa State University and collaboratively developed with and licensed to CDS-John Blue Company. After extensive testing through Iowa State, field trials and a lengthy approval process, CDSJohn Blue Company is proud to offer new patent pending technology in two models, the IP-1300 (13-port flow divider) and the IP-1800 (18-port flow divider).

HOW IT WORKS

Accuracy: Evenly mixes the gas and liquid portions of NH3 and distributes accurately to each row. Flexibility: Allows the end users to plug ports without any loss of accuracy. Simplicity: A simple design allows for ease of service without removing the distribution lines, however it is recommended that proper handling techniques for NH3 be used at all times. Variability: Handles all typical applications rates without changing any flow divider parts.
