Carolinian Debate Society: University of San Carlos

The University of San Carlos is inviting teams to participate in its first inter-varsity debate tournament from May 23-25. The tournament will use the British Parliamentary debate format and have 48 team slots. Teams can represent their university or compete as a composite team consisting of members from different schools. There will be 5 preliminary rounds followed by elimination rounds and finals. Adjudicators include professors from Silliman University, Palawan State University, and San Beda College. Teams must register by May 15 by submitting a form and paying the registration fee.

The Carolinian Debate Society and the University of San Carlos is very excited to invite you to first University of San Carlos Inter-varsities Debate Tournament this coming May 23-25. The tournament hopes to keep the Cebuano Debate Community active during the summer and prepare the same for the up-coming Visayas Mindanao Debate Championship (VMDC). The tournament will be conducted using the British Parliamentary format. General Information The tournament team cap is set at 48 teams. The tournament applies the N-1 rule which asks each team to bring along one (1) adjudicator with them. As an inter-varsities tournament, teams can choose to represent their individual institution or compete as a composite team. Composite teams can have members that belong from different institutions, or from different levels (e.g. A High School and College team). USC IV highly encourages the extensive presence of composite teams. There is no rule as to how these composite teams are formed. There will be five (5) elimination rounds. Breaking teams will proceed to the finals series. USC IV is open to institutions in and out of the city of Cebu.
