I replaced a window with a slider but needed a way to get in and out. I had a beautiful patio that I didn't want to cover, nor did I just want steps. As this deck is located near where many of the utilities enter the house, I made it free standing. It's heavy, but a two people could move it out of the way without much trouble. I was a little concerned that it would move around with dogs and people running over it, but so far it hasn't.
