Straight legs in a forward fold don’t automatically mean more flexibility. When the hamstrings are tight, locking the knees tucks the pelvis and actually limits hamstring lengthening. Forward fold is a hip hinge—softening the knees lets the pelvis tilt forward so the hamstrings can lengthen safely and effectively under load.
