Potter Yoshimitsu Ishihara uses locally dug clay from the area around his home in Fukuoka prefecture to produce his ceramic vessels. With a background in sculpting Ishihara's first concern is shape and form. Although some work is made on a wheel, much of his work is hand-built and wood fired resulting in organic shapes and varied surface tones and textures. **The wood fired ceramics can vary in color from side to side. Potter Norikazu Oe began his relationship with ceramics at an early age, attending the program at Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Technical College in Seto and later continuing his training in Tajimi, another of Japan's well known pottery towns. Norikazu currently works out of his studio in Gifu Prefecture and exhibits his work regularly in Japan.
