The Cutthroat Trout

The cutthroat trout (Oncorhynchus clarkii) is a fascinating freshwater fish known for its distinctive appearance and natural habitat. These trout are named for the red, orange, or pink slash-like markings on the underside of their lower jaw, which resemble a cut or "throat." Cutthroat trout vary in coloration depending on their subspecies and habitat. They typically have an olive-green to brownish body with scattered black spots, and their colors can range from vibrant to more muted.
