The Golden Pheasant or "Chinese Pheasant", (Chrysolophus pictus): native to forests in mountainous areas of western China. Feral populations have established in the U.K. & elsewhere. The adult male is 90–105 cm long, its tail accounting for 2/3 of the total length. Habitat: dense, dark young conifer forests with sparse undergrowth. They feed on the ground on grain, leaves & invertebrates, but they roost in trees at night. They can fly but prefer to run.
