Imbolc

Imbolc is a Celtic festival that marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, usually celebrated on February 1st or 2nd. It signifies the gradual return of light and the emergence of life from the dormant winter season. Imbolc is deeply associated with the Celtic goddess Brigid, and as a result, it is often referred to as St. Brigid's Day in Christianized traditions. St. Brigid, a Christian saint, is believed to have been inspired by the earlier Celtic goddess of the same name. Both Imbolc and St. Brigid's Day are occasions for celebrating the increasing daylight, the first signs of spring, and the creative and nurturing aspects of Brigid.
